1990 Camry Lights failure and more!
Hi all!
Ok before shrugging this off as another ' lil yellow box failure ', in which I have searched for and it seems to be a very common problem. Mine seems to be a bit more terminal. Indicators and hazards are inoperable, and when I apply the brake pedal the Charge light comes on on the dash and the engine will eventually stall out (due to lack of voltage). I have monitored the voltage drop when brakes are applied before. I note in the not so trusty Gregory's manual :p , that alot of the cars electrics are routed via this ' lamp failure box '. It seems to get its power form a tap that connects to the starter motor. I belive this is the point at which this relay is sucking the energy from the rest of the car. I will look for the lil yellow box tonight and any other wiring issues. Am I on the right track? Or does anyone have any other advise? Car is off the road till I can get this sorted out :( My shopping list so far includes : Flasher relay Lamp failure relay box Possibly new alternator ?? (It does not seem to be suppling much charge back to the battery) - battery was new 3 months ago. HELP PLEASE! :( ( I think I have posted this in the right area, please move or let me know if it's not :) ) |
you should have your alternator checked out at your local autozone. They do it for free all you have to do is take it off and bring it to them. I wouldn't suggest driving your car there and getting it tested with it on, I did this a while back on my MR2 and they said everything was fine when it was seized. Really easy to get to just pop your hood and wham its right there.
