1990 Camry not driven in 10 years!!!
Hi everyone,
So I bought a 1990 Camry LE V6 with only 55k miles on it in excellent condition. I just got it today and it drives great. The question I had was what should I be worried about since the car was not driven at all since 1999. Should I replace all the fluids including tranny, break, etc.? Should I replace all the belts? Any suggestions would be great becuase I'm not a mechanic, and I would like to take good care of this car as I believe it can have a lot of life left. Thanks everyone. |
I would be concerned about your oil pump. I put an engine in an old Thunderbird one time and the engine had been sitting for a couple of years. The old pump was gummed up and caused many problem such as overheating of the engine.

I would replace all of the fluids, the belts and the tires. Take a good look at the hoses and replace those too if needed.

Ten years is quite a long time to sit. Just keep an eye out for any leaky seals which
may have dried out. I'm curious if there was fuel in the tank and what you needed to do to get it running so quickly. Did you just add fuel, or remove and replace the fuel that was in there ? Belts should be replaced . Hoses checked. Look out for fine furry critter nests within the air filter assembly. I see that all the time. They eat through the air filter then make a nest anywhere in the air intake . Even up to the throttle plate, which is where I found my last " Mouse Hotel ".... Good Luck with your new Wheels ::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::::: |
