Default 1990 Camry shifting problem

Hey guys!

Yesterday I was driving to work when I had to accelerate really quickly. I floored it (which is something I almost never do), and afterwards, the car has been having issues shifting. At first, it seemed like I couldn't shift past 2nd gear. Then after work, I realized that it was shifting past 2nd gear, but that it was shifting later than usual (at higher RPMs). I've been told by the dealer to change the filter/fluid, and that could help. Does that make sense to anyone, because it doesn't to me considering it happened so abruptly. Does anyone know what this could be? Thank you for any advice.

Engine: 4cyl 3SFE 2.0 Liter
Trans: Automatic A140L

Default **update**

After messing with the TV cable with no change, I figured the first thing I should do is change the fluid/filter, and see if that helps at all. So I changed the fluid, and added lucas transmission conditioner. After this, the car shifted smoother, but still higher RPMs. I was also able to coax it into shifting whenever I wanted to by letting off the gas when I wanted it to shift. In seeing this change, I figured I would readjust the TV cable back to where I originally had it to see if that changed anything, and it did. I continued to mess with it, and now it shifts perfectly! Hopefully stays that way! Thanks guys!!
