Default 1995 Camry V6 - Hole in cat.

My cat has a hole in it, It's located in the middle of car and there is nothing connected to it like wires. Downstream appears the resonator and exhaust and upstream is the flex pipe and other cats.

Can I just union it.

Service info shows the last CAT on the exhaust is not monitored by a O2 or A/F sensor. Is the CAT aftermarket?

I replaced the muffler from junkyard. Had a muffler shop fix the flex pipes. Other than that that cat is original and pipes original.

Think there was a number on it also.

Note: 20% of life was in California before going to Midwest. Maybe why it lasted so long. Putting on ramps tonight to pinpoint.

Also noticed harder to start now . Backpressure probably. Very noisy also.

Took a closer look. Broken/rusted through after cat and may be enough to setup a union. Actual cat appears in good shape.

Thanks, toyomoho for confirming there are no connections to this cat. Will be working on soon.

Thanks for posting back. A short term fix might be "muffler tape" to seal the hole.

Well, here is the end result. The cat connection was cracked/rusted which connected to a coupling then to the downstream sensor and resonator.

I used SS clamps, SS pipe, grinder to cut, and pipe widener rental from Advanced auto. Also added stainless steel straps to cat cover since that decided to come off but normal for the age.

It took a while to do all this Fit pipe in cat first since that had the most space to back into. Just bumped the internal screen a little. Then pushed out to the other pipe. The 95 camry exhaust system must be SS to last this long and the metal is thick. Also pipe expander at least my rental only widens very little but was enough. Doing it on car is harder. There is not alot of metal thickness for the connection to the cat but holds well. See pictures below.
