1999 Camry 4-cyl EGR Valve Switch Sensor

I have the part, now if I could only figure out where to install it? I've been trying in vain to find emissions control system schematics for a 1999 Camry to no avail. Can anyone help me out? I still have the P0401 code after checking the tubes/hoses, replacing the EGR valve, and replacing the EGR VSV.

When you replaced the EGR, did you clean the carbon out the exhaust port in the head and steel tube connected to the valve?

With engine running, you might try applying vacuum directly to the EGR valve vacuum port (where the small hose connects). If the EGR valve is working, the engine should stumble and eventually die if too much vacuum is applied (the EGR valve is opened too much at idle).

Not the answer I was looking for, and pretty much a typical answer for the P0401 ODC re:EGR. I'll go ahead and put a vacuum on the brand new EGR valve to make sure the brand new valve works. I'm still seeking a schematic to show where the EGR Valve Position Sensor goes in a '99 Camry (4-cyl), if there's anyone out there that can provide one.

Here's what the part looks like -

No need to be sarcastic.

One reason you may be getting the "standard" answers is you EGR valve may not have this sensor.

The sensors probe, the small diameter pin sticking out, would need to engage the valve of the EGR to be able to move with it and send a signal as to is position.

It mounts on top of the EGR valve "can" where the diaphragm is, there would be a chassis wiring harness plug for it.

Does the new EGR have any place where this sensor can mount, is there a chassis wiring harness plug for the sensor?

The V6 engine does use this sensor.

Sorry. In any event, I'm looking for a schematic like the one below (except I need the one for a 1999 Camry 4-cyl)

Is this a car for US consumption?

The 1999 Toyota factory service manual shows nothing for the 4 cylinder, the V6 yes.

Thought Toyota moved away from the sensor on the 4 cylinder a few years previously.

If looking on websites for parts the sensor is listed for the 4 cylinder 99 but the EGR valves listed for the same year have no prevision to attach one. The V6 yes.

Try asking at the Toyotanation website in the year and model forum. Someone there will own the same year model, engine car you have.

Yes, the car is in the US. It's clear now in looking at the EGR Valve for the V6 that the switch sensor is for that model, so I'll return it. I'll give the Toyotanation website a shot. Thx.
