2009 Camry power steering fluid type & qty?
2009 Camry 116k mi
Getting ready to change the PS fluid. The owner's manual says ATF Dexron II or III compatible, which is pretty generic. I've run into problems with other cars when following the owner's manual recommendation, so I thought I would ask before I get going. What PS fluid is recommended for good protection and performance? I don't mind a few extra dollars to do it right. How much will it take to replace all the fluid turning the rack side to side until I see new fluid coming back out of the return hose? Thanks! |
Dexron II was replaced by III. GM stopped licensing III, as such it now goes by other names. Such as Dex/Merc ATF, Dexron ATF, ATF 3, Multi-Vehicle ATF, etc.
Just make sure the fluid lists as a replacement for Dexron III somewhere on the container. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/rpo-01320-6 There is also synthetic Dexron III fluid. Again read the label or documentation for Dexron III replacement. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/red-30204/overview/ Two quarts should be enough. |
