2012 wheels on 2006. Can '06 take wheels?

We just got our 2006 Camry back from daughter. It has the 15 or 16" wheels, forgot. When we bought our 2012 Camry, it came with 17" wheels I think, and the dealer gave us aluminum wheels to make the sale, so I have the original, never used 2012 wheels that I'd like to put on the 2006 Camry. This will be 1" bigger wheels/tires.

Can I do this, and if so, what about speedometer/odometer? Will they be okay?

Thanks...

You want to put 17 inch rims/tires from a 2012 Camry onto a 2006 model?

A 15 inch may have been standard on the 2006.

Yes, the rims will mount. If the rim/tire size was offered by factory or dealer on the 2012 Camry it should fit the 2006.

Do suggest you mount a front and rear tire just to confirm fit.

Tires vary on their height and width. Given there is only so much clearance in the wheel wells. The larger rim may have a lower height and width tire to adjust clearance to the larger rim.

Your speedo/odo will be off slightly but not enough to be concerned.

If you have the current 2006 tire size (embedded on side wall of tire) and the replacement tire size. There are internet calculators which will generate the MPH difference.

A bit late getting back. My 2006 Camry has 15" wheels, the 2012 Camry has 16". When we got the 2012 the dealer gave me alloy wheels, so I have the never used original 16" 2012 wheels that I want to use on the 2006, which will go from 15" to 16" wheels. The tires are good for a long time, so I won't be changing them until I need new tires. Just going up 1" should be okay?

The rim diameter may have increased but the tire height may have been lowered.

Should fit OK.
