93 4 cylinder. A/C was low, put in 2 cans of R12 (yes still have some). Worked fine for a couple weeks, then started getting warm.

Thought "leak" and saw bubbles in sight glass, so added some R12. Never seemed to get cold. Noticed fan not running, and A/C light, on switch, blinking. Then compressor belt started squealing intermittently.

Think compressor is gone and want to replace with on from 94 on up, which is R134a. Seems like it should bolt right in. I already have a receiver dryer (r134a type) as I was going to soon convert to r134a anyway.

Does the compressor bolt right in?
