wise next step is to buy Haynes repair manual and follow schedule. timing belts usually go for 70-100 000 miles. it depends. like I said - $14 or so expense will save you a lot of $$.

how are the tires? changes oil frequently...

Toyota provides no mileage or month recommendation for belt change stating to inspect the belt. Unless something obvious like oil on the belt or teeth damage, belt inspection typically does not provide an indication of how much life is left.

Given the year of car would assume it has the original belt. For a 93 the suggested mileage by belt makers is 60K but original belts can go over 100K. They do break.

If it does break the engine is non-interference and will not be damaged.

This doesn't answer your question but at least you know if the belt breaks the engine will not be damaged.
