Default 93 Camry won't start

this chick cut in front of me real quik so i had to brake really hard which caused my car to go into neutral then i put it back in drive but i couldnt accelerate and it was hard to turn the steering wheel and the gas pedal was hard to press but the car was still on
then i pulled into a parking lot and it stopped running there. i checked the timing belt and it looked fine and the fuses were ok
theres a wire that's broken i dont know if its part of the neutral safety switch

can anyone please tell me how i might be able to fix this problem?

oh yea its not the battery either because i charged it for a while and nothing happened
and there was smoke coming from the air filter its an inline 4 camry LE

The engine turns over but will not start?

You sure the engine did not stall out. The PS would only be hard to use if the PS pump stopped (engine stalled).

Did you check the fuses behind the drivers side ash try on the instrument panel.
