95' Camry
 

I have a 95 Camry and while the car is in parked you're able to raise the engine, but as soon as you you go to Drive or Reverse and accelorate, the vehicle does nothing for awile. It take a minute for it to pick up speed. Any idea what's causing this? Frustrated:eek:

that sound confusing... can't find any idea what causes it...

Does the car take a long time to accelerate, as if starting out in 3 gear instead of first?

Yes, I've checked the trans fluid, it seems fine. I was thinking more along the line of fire. Is that a possibility.

V6 or 4 cylinder engine?

Watch the RPM versus MPH. Does the RPM pickup but the MPH not (as if something is slipping)? Or does both RPM and MPH slowly pickup as if the trans were in a very high gear and the engine can't handle the load?

Try starting off in manual selected gears-1st, 2nd, etc, O/D switch off and on.

If your handy disconnect the electrical harness going to the electric shift solenoids on the trans. The 4 cylinder engine has 3 solenoids, one outside and 2 inside the trans. The harness should have some kind of plug on the outside of the case to attach to the trans wiring.

This will put the trans into manual mode. Determine if there is any change.
