95 Camry V6 - Arrow direction on timing belt install

I have alot of conflicting information on which way to install the timing belt.

Mitsuboshi CD257 belt. If installed the Arrow with(fr) can point to engine or flipped and point toward me and right fender.

Which is it please and why? I know the white marks on belt must match up with marks on cams/backing plate and circular dots with dot on crankshaft.

Thank You.

The belt marks and arrow are there as an aid to installation. As long as the cams and crank are aligned properly it doesn't matter where the marks are. If this is a new belt it doesn't matter which way the arrow is pointed.

Orient the belt arrow so it points to the CW direction of belt travel with engine running. The engine turns CW.

Align the crank pulley to zero degrees. Temporarily install the crankshaft pulley bolt to the crankshaft. Rotate crankshaft and align crankshaft timing pulley groove with the oil pump alignment mark.

Align each cam pulley mark with their mark on the timing cover. Align the crank pulley mark with zero degrees.

If you are going to use the marks on the belt.

Orient the arrow in the direction of belt travel when the engine is running. The crankshaft rotates CW.

The line across the belt aligns with the dot on the crank pulley when crankshaft at TDC.

The other belt marks align with the mark on the cam pulley when the pulley marks are aligned with the timing cover marks.

When done, insert tensioner. Rotate the crank 2 times CW and recheck all marks. ALL marks should be aligned.

It happens when the tensioner installed the belt can move an cause a pulley to rotate causing the timing to be off.

Using the marks on the belt makes sure the belt is engaged to the pulleys at the right physical location and makes it easier to check.

Thank you. Makes perfect sense.
