'98 Windshield Wiper Malfunction
Obviously, I have a 1998 Toyota Camry. The windshield wipers work fine, except they don't finish the cycle and park themselves after I flip the wiper switch off. They sit in whatever position they were in the moment I flip the switch to "off." After doing a little research, I have gathered that it could be a bad relay switch or a bad wiper motor. Anyone out there have any theories, advice or suggestions on what the problem could be? Also, if you believe it's the relay, which relay needs to be replaced? I am having trouble figuring out which relay controls the wipers. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, -Keith St. Louis, MO |
Relay(s) is built into wiper controls circuit.
Might be a broken park switch. Rotation of wiper motor opens and closes a switch. The switch is used to signal when wipers are in park position. When wipers are turned off, they will park based on this switch. Sometimes the arm of the switch breaks off. |
Does anyone have a set of photos on this? I'm curious if it can be fixed, or if the wiper motor needs to be replaced?

There may be a few photos at this site on a thread. Use the search function.
Some have managed to glue the arm back together with electrical conducting epoxy. |
