I stand corrected. The A140L is completely hydraulic.

Are you referencing the A140L/A140E factory manual? If so what page was referenced to O/D engaging between gears and not only after 3rd gear?

The O/D does seem to work as the RPM is dropping when it is engaged.

Before proceeding with anything, try confirming if it is electrical or transaxle itself. follow the pdf link given by Dirty Hands page 63.

*tip, you need to start the car 1st before unplugging the solenoid wire.

New member here. I have owned a 95 4 cyl. Camry for several years now and have yet to have any tranny problems on the A140E. Only recently I have started to learn about the operation of the trans and do not at all understand how it could have overdrive in second gear. Can someone explain?
