ATF dipstck reading problems
 

Everytime I take the ATF dipstick out it is wet way over the top of the hot mark, i drained the atf to refill and stopped filling after 3 qts, to check and it was so hard to get a reading cause of the wet stick, and I know it is not over filled cause I took out more then 3 qts. Is there a better way to check the level on the stick, I even wait till the fluid is drained down before checking but still hard to read. Thank you.:confused:

you have to give the new oil added time to drip through the dip stick tube
and settle .............before rushing the reading

how to check the level

keep motor running all the time and auto oil warm
car on level ground
cycle all gears return to park

take out and wipe dip stick
dip stick in and out again
take reading
should be between cold and hot

start at 15 seconds end 1:55

I got small holes ( 1/32" diameter or thereabouts) drilled in my dipstick (oil dipstick too!) at each check line at a machine shop ... cost me $5.... if oil doesn't reach hole it will be empty, if that makes sense..... works fine for me!
