Automatic shoulder harnesses on 87 Camry

Hi!

I need a (hopefully) quick fix for my daughter's 87 Camry. The automatic shoulder harness part of the front seatbelts, have stopped working. The driver side is in the back position, which is fine. But, the passenger side is in the forward position, which is not fine. She needs to take her driver's test on the 11th. She was scheduled for the end of February, but the tester wouldnt' let her take the test, because of the passenger side seatbelt.

I've tried WD40, to no avail. There aren't any broken wires. I found the little blanking plate, containing the electrical connector. But, can't find the message explaining how to configure it to get it to return.

ugh...

Please help.

Thank you!
Susan

The link below may help you retract the belt but you still need to determine the problem.

The link below has a great explanation of how the system works and what problems can occur.

The author of this post. Doctor J, knows his stuff. Might go over to the Toyotanation website where he was posting a lot more frequently and send a private message to him.
