Default Back-up lights fixed on 94 Camry

We have two 94 Camry’s, both had problems with reverse lights not working and not lighting the “R” on the dash panel. Thanks to posts on this forum and answers found elsewhere on the internet both lights are now working.

In our case the neutral switch from both cars was removed taken apart and thoroughly cleaned, removed excess grease, lightly brushed the full-length copper contact points, removed the armature copper brushes and cleaned out the pocket stretched the springs. Resembled, re-installed the neutral switch, aligned the neutral position, tested and then tightened. By the way this was done from the topside of the engine compartment, no need to access from underneath!

Indicator lights for reverse, Drive, etc now all work properly and of course the back-up lights work when transmission is placed into reverse.

Default Where is the neutral switch?

Where is the neutral switch located?

My backup lights work but the Reverse indicator in my dashboard does not light. Could this be the neutral switch, or is my dashlight burned out?

That switch is located on the transmisson under the battery, follow the cable from the shifter it will lead you right to it. If your backlights work and all the other lights on the dash indicator works then yes the bulb is out.
