A/C conversion?

My 86 Camry has production date listed as 4/86. The compressor that is in there looks more like the picture of one listed for a Camry that is built after 8/86. It could be as I've only had the car for 5 years. Ok, if I convert to r134a, I see that these compressors they sell say they are for r12. But if I get one that is delivered without oil, can I just add the ester oil to it and do the other conversion procedures?

The compressor could have been replaced.

If the new compressor has no oil suggest you still flush it out with ester oil then completely drain of oil. Then add back the proper amount of oil.
