After touching the brakes as I turned the key a dummy light popped up and per the manual states a bulb is out. It's a icon of a picture of a car with rear light . Had car for 10 years and did not even know it had this icon but can't remember If I ever changed any bulbs.

Replaced two front side markers. They were clearly out, all black and likely because I did some work on the two corners of the car in summer.

Light still pops up.

Replaced all lights in rear side markers(2), turn signals(2), backup lights(2), and brake lights(2). They were not worn but some were darkened and filament ready to crack. I read somewhere these sensors are sensitive (resistance) so replaced all rear lights. Each blinker had three bulbs and the backup bulbs were part of trunk. Checked manual to ensure correct bulb.

Light still pops up.


The only other light out is a light behind the heater ***** inside but that has been like that for years.

Keep in mind it is extremely cold here in the Midwest and maybe that has something to do with it. Maybe need to replace front blinkers or light bulbs.

I think I found the burned out bulb. It's the third brakelight under the back window. Checking it out.

 

If it doesn't solve the problem, post back.

The thirds brake light was burned out. Drove the vehicle around and the dash bulb icon went away. Woooo.

Now I am working on the dash. The rear defroster after years of pushing it in broke loose. I previously tried to fix but trying with these new plastic epoxies. They seem to work well.

Symptoms


Summer


Turn on AC. Works fine but screeching noise and stops once at 20 mph.


Winter


Turn on defrost. Works fine until rear defroster electric goes on. Then at 20 mph is fine.




I think fan clutch since AC and defroster use it and additional power puts stress on defroster.
