Coolant change and Check Engine Light
Did the first coolant change at 99K miles, flushed the system (engine+radiator) and replaced with same grade as original long life coolant. Burped the system. Temperature gauge is showing as usual (slightly below 9 o'clock) at working operating engine temperature and everything under the hood is smooth as butter. Some 50 miles later the check engine light came up. Could it be related to the coolant change or by coincidence something else is failing? Still waiting for my OBD2 scanner tool to arrive...
PS If this could be related, since my evaporator is leaking and is waiting proper time to be replaced, I vented out the little that was left in the A/C system through he exhaust valve at the time of the coolant change. |
AC is monitored by a different system.
Who knows about check light. Did you remove any sensor plugs, etc when doing the coolant change? |

UPDATE: OBD2 scanner turned up P0441 error. Crappy gas cap! Just like everything else in Toyota. I'm so fed up with this car, it's going to the junk yard.
Never again! I had to fix so many fundamental things in this car before reaching 100K mark, I think it will fall apart by itself. That does not include all little annoyances and minor fix ups on a daily basis. |
