Help figureing out which shift solenoid to replace? p0766
My car is having a problem shifting into overdrive, and I have a code of P0766.
Ive looked online, and in the manual I have (pdf version). I can't find enough information to determine whihc solenoid is "shift solenoid D."
I would greatly appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Lou

Thanks for the help! I have pdf repair manual for 2003 camry, but it doesn't have any information on transmission. It does have information on removing the transmission, when I did ha search for the Code P0766 i got conflicting information indicating that it was Solenoid Valve S4 on one site, and Solenoid DSL on another.
I called the dealer to see if they have the solenoid in stock, and parts guy told me they don't have any part numbers, I will have to point at diagram to determine which solenoid I need. I thought was confusing. It seems the diagram must have some type of parts numbers.
I'm still confused on how I can order the replacement part. I plan to get the pan off, and test the solenoids this weekend.

I started searching for a part number for Solenoid Valve SLT, and I noticed on two differnte sites that it DTC Code P2716 is often associated with it. IT seems to be called Pressure Control Solenoid Valve D.
Is this the same Solenoid associated with P0766 "Shift Solenoid D." I apologize in advance if these are dumb questions. I don't have much experience working on Transmission Internals. I have a friend who is Certified GM Transmission Tech who is willing to help, but he doesn't have any experience with Toyota transmissions.
I'm trying to figure out what parts to order, to get my car back on road.
Thanks in Advance for all the help.

I can't find that section in my manual. There isn't any information, regarding removing Valve Body, Oil Pan, or Solenoids. I wonder if there is a separate manual for the transmission.
Do you have to remove valve body to install Solenoids?
I thought my transmission was u140e. Now, I'm super confused.

First start by looking on the drivers side of door, under hood or glove compartment for a sticker listing car specs including the trans model. The U241E trans is listed for the 4-cylinder engine of this year of car.
Solenoid B is linked to SL2 which is linked to code P0766. The links below will help. Note although some info may be for different model car but trans is the same.

The shop manual will not list part numbers.

Thanks for information, and links. This gives me a much clearer picture of what is involved.
I noticed the link referenced a DTC Code of p0776. I saw a link on a Generic Transmission site that connected DTC p0766 to Solenoid S4.
I'm planning to pull the pan, and hopefully have access to Solenoids with Transmission in the car. It's not clear to me from the manual, if I can remove solenoids with transmission still in car.
I will check the door tag for transmission info. Thanks for all the help!
