Help please, 1999 rear seat latch issue

Hi,

Both my rear seat latch releases on my 1999 camry won't work.

I have moved the lock button accessible from the trunk in both positions but no go.

Can any tell me how to manually release the seats so I can take them apart and fix whatever is broke in the release mechanisms??

When I pull on the release knobs on the top of each seat, I can feel the spring pull the knob back down but there is no connection from that to where ever the release is to the catch.

The back of the seat is metal so I can't force my way in there.

Any help is appreciated, I am at a loss how to release them any other way.

There is a pull cable running from the upper lock control to the lower lock.

Look at the lowest part of the seat back below where the lock control is for a removable bezel cover. Perhaps with cover removed the cable or lock can be manually pulled.

thanks for the reply.

Crawled into the trunk and I pulled up the fabric on the back of the seat and looked below the lock control and did not see a cover. It may be lower than I can see with the seats stuck in the up position.

Any other ideas?
