motor died

i was driving down the freeway and i heard a pinging sound, still ran smooth plenty of power made a u turn to try to get home and the engine died, plenty of oil, didn't overheat, just died, has 235,000 miles on it. i also don't know the maintance history except what i did (changed oil, plugs, added water). i am thinking timing belt and water pump, not sure. tried to start it and all i got was a clunk and the engine won't turn over. going to try breaker bar on crank bolt first ccw then cw. there was some water on the ground but the ac was running and the car was not overheating. the body is ugly in front but everything works. kid i got it from put it in the ditch and tweeked the drivers side. going to start pulling the front end apart and see if i can pull it straight yeah:(

The pinging is a good sign that the timing was off, it doesn't take much. I think your engine is smoked.
