Need help installing cd player in a 1998 TOYOTA CAMRY XLE V6
 

Hi everybody i am new to this forum. I need some help installing a cd player in my 1998 Toyota Camry XLE V6. The problem is how do i install it. I bought the harness for my car making sure its the right one. In the harness there are 2 plugs and in my car there is 1 plug. so my question is how do i install it ???? There is no other harness that has 1 plug that directly connects to the car's dash plug. SO HOW DO I INSTALL MY CD PLAYER??

What are you trying to do?

Is this an adapter harness or complete?

Are you trying to install a stereo with CD player or just the player? If just the player is this a Toyota product (typically with a round plug)?

What is the cars current stereo system, stereo with built-in amp, remote amp, ?.

1 plug in the car suggests a remote amp. Try looking around the wiring where the 1 plug is for 2 other plugs that might be taped up.

2 plugs were used for stereo's with built in amps.

Usually the harness kits are made to fit many different types of vehicles, therefore you may or may not (usually not) use all plugs on the harness. I just installed a Pioneer head unit in my 2000 LE and the harness kit had 4 plugs, I only used 2.

I'm going to assume you're installing an aftermarket head unit (CD player), did you already wire the harness to the CD player? If not it's all color coded and usually pre-stripped, not hard at all. It looks like the bigger plug on your harness will fit the one in your hand, if the other plug doesn't fit anything just leave it. The larger round plug (the black one) is for your antenna, it just plugs straight into the CD player you are installing. Not sure about the smaller round plug (metallic one), did you have a factory disk changer or something like that? If so it could be for that, I'd just leave it unplugged and see if it works.
