Parts and Fitment

Hi everyone!

I have a question about parts and fitment. Recently, I started looking for a windshield washer tank for my 2008 Camry LE and entered the lair of Japanese made vs. U.S. made. After a bit of searching to figure out what the hell they were talking about, I checked my car and it is U.S. made.

While this may seem dumb, I cannot find any advice regarding the difference between country of origin other than there are aficionados who swear that the Japanese cars felt "better," more solid, (enter your choice of praise here). Others said that the Japanese parts were machined better or within stricter tolerances. For instance, using firearms (M4/AR15/M16) as an example...you can shoot a .223 through a 5.56 but not the other way around.

So here is my question: Will the Japanese part fit my U.S. made Camry?

My main concern here is price. The Japanese made part is roughly half of the U.S. made part. They both look the same, so unless they are very different, I'd like to stretch my dollars as much as possible.

I'm also looking for PLATE SUB-ASSY, PARKING BRAKE, RH and LH. Does anyone know if it is possible to get these for waaaay less than the $200+ dollars every website seems to want? :( I did check RockAuto which didn't have them and they are out of the U.S. made reservoir. Ugggh.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you all!

See your other post.

To determine if a part is different for US or Japan, check P/N's at an online Toyota dealer parts site.

For other parts try Epay or a salvage yard.
