Sticky Gas Pedal/ Throddle Cable
The gas pedal on my 99 camry sticks a little bit when first stepped on. this make the car surge forward from a stop. seems to be just when stopped. not sure if it is the line or the throd linkage or what. anyone seen this before?

Typically the throttle would use cables. The cable from the throttle pedal would go to the cruise control box then another cable to the throttle pulley.
Remove the plastic cover of the cruise control box (eash job). Have someone press on the throttle while you watch the cable and throttle pulley action at the cruise box and throttle pulley. There should be direct action between the gas pedal and throttle pulley. It may be the something in the cruise control box is binding up. With the cover removed you can watch the movements of the various parts. |
sticky
most likely caused by a formation of carbon inside the throtle body and on the throtle plate causing it to stick. clean with carb cleaner while engine is off.

Is this guy for real? the car is too old? It states that i have a "99" camry. i will try both the tbi cleaner and the cables to see if that works. thanks for the good tips. |
