Transaxle Axle Shaft Seals Leaking
#11
Finally completed the differential fluid drain and fill today on the 1995 Camry Automatic with 2.2L engine. The fill plug was loosened first. This was NOT easy. I removed the upper air filter box cover/diffuser and inlet hose to the throttle body. I then could reach down to the differential fairly easy. I wiped off the area around the fill plug. I broke the over-torqued plug loose with a 3/8" flex head ratchet and a 17mm 6 point socket. I then broke the drain plug loose and removed holding a bucket up close to the drain hole. The old fluid came out almost black. I then cleaned up the drain plug and magnet , inspected the drain plug gasket and reinstalled the drain plug and torqued. I lowered the car and filled from the top side using a funnel with a hose connected and routed into the fill hole. ATF was added until it ran out of the fill hole. The fill plug was reinstalled and torqued.
