Default 2002 Camry - 1 door wont lock

Hi ,

this after noon , tried to lock the car and the security system beeped twice ... checked all the doors and found one unlocked.

Now ive parked it again ... and it wont lock at all when i repeatedly press the button to lock and unlock the car .... the mechanism seems stuck and keeps making noise .. goes into spazims.

All the other doors are ok.?

what can i do about this

i found two posts on this forum , one says to check the fuse is seated correctly , the other says a Likely a worn doorlock solenoid.

edit :- ive just been quoted $200 - 300 for a replacement solenoid or lock unit? though i was told an aftermarket version could be cheaper

any way i can do this my self or get the parts and save some costs

The vehicle is due for a major service soon so i could just book it in somewhere

Is the solenoid easy to replace .... where can i get a replacement in Melbourne

Cheers

did you lost the key? There is no issue is you still have your keys. Best is call the dealer ask him/her where you can get the key and ask for assistant in getting that.

If you can hear the mechanism attempt to luck/unlock the door- it is likely a failed door lock actuator. In many cases- it will work once or twice but repeated uses will cause it to stop working. It is simple to replace if you are mechanically inclined.

Default Msg. for Joel

Joel, you said the exact same thing that my local svc. dept. told me - that it was the actuator. PepBoys has the part for my car (2004 Toyota Camry) (http://c2c.activant.com/ctoc/index.j...FFVxoCeyUIUXQf) listed at $114.00 which is a lot cheaper than the $400 the svc. dept. quoted me for part and labor. In looking at the part, would you say it's the correct replacement part that I need to make the repair myself? And if it is, would you mind posting instructions on how to make the repair?

I appreciate any help you can provide.
