1992 Camry XLE with Intermittent Power Loss with Check Engine Light!
Hello Good People!
After 485,890 miles my beloved 1992 Camry XLE, 5S-FE (2.2 Liter ) (JT Vin = Made in Japan) exhibited an Intermittent Power Loss issue and continues to run like if it is only running on half the cylinders and Check Engine Light appears on the dash. In previous thread discussions this is known as LIMP MODE.
Entire Distributor (New) was replaced and was driven for two days and the condition / issue once again has came up with the same condition.
Ignition Igniter was replaced along with checking various other items such as the spark plugs, vacuum hoses etc...etc......etc...and still no joy.
Here is a Video showing you all exactly what experience I have had with this issue / problem:

With minimal tools, headed out to the Salvage Yard once again to get the ECU / ECM (Main Computer) from both 1993 Camry's!
I am pleased to announce that my 1992 Camry XLE is running perfect after replacing the Original - Old - Defective ECU-ECM for one that came out of a 1993 Camry (The limit year is 1993).
Once I replaced the ECU-ECM, I took it for a long 2 hour ride to the Local Toyota Dealership to buy some Oil Filters for my Camry and that of my daughters. No more CHECK ENGINE light and NO MORE LIMP MODE!
On the Original ECM-ECU, I found some residue on top of the Capacitor pertaining to the ECM-ECU Power Supply circuitry. It is no wonder that these Capacitors have lasted this long and amazed that the vehicle didn't stop in a complete disable mode and instead it continued to run in LIMP MODE! The design is flawless to the point that you don't find yourself on the ROAD DEAD.
Okay a few pictures!

I am very pleased to announce that after several more hours of traveling around Central Florida, my Camry is finally mended and no further issues or Check Engine Light (CEL) has surfaced.
All I can say is that it has been a very productive weekend and super happy that my Camry will see and reach 1/2 a Million Miles after all.
Have a great night!
