2002 Camry V6 3.0L
Hey friends, hope you can help find what the real issue is with a friend’s Camry (200K mile).
Symptoms were stalling at intersections, low idle. Car now will not start. Here are the parts that have been checked / replaced: - Engine cranks freely, not a battery or starter issue (both new) - EFI relay in engine bay is working (swapped with horn relay and both relays functional) - Fuel pump, filter, and screen have been replaced and can hear fuel pump while cranking engine - Crankshaft position sensor has been replaced - Camshaft position sensor has been replaced - There is fuel at the fuel rail, but can’t measure pressure (have no tools for that) - Have not been able to detect spark at the plug, but that was before replacing above sensors Have not yet.. - Replaced fuel pressure regulator or fuel dampener - Replaced circuit opening relay - Replaced EFI relay next to ECM (is there one?) Other symptoms - I cannot get my OBD-II scanner to connect to the ECM. Just displays ‘Connecting...’ and never gets a reading. One shop (dealer) told him the ECM was bad. My friend has already put $3000 into this taking it to various shops and only paid $1500 for the car. Trying to replace things that are fairly low cost and easy to replace but this has got me flummoxed. |
