2011 Intermittent Starting
 

I have a 2011 Camry w/110K miles on it. I drive it almost everyday and there have been no problems up until last week. Last Wednesday I drive about 30 miles to pick up my mother. I parked the car and went in to get her. We came back out and got in the car, maybe 5 minutes had passed, turned the key and nothing. No so much as the starter clicking. Dome light didn't work. Locks didn't work. Nothing. Had to leave it. Got back to it the next morning and still nothing. So I jumped it. Let it sit for a couple of minutes, turned it off and it started right back up. Drove it home and had to let it sit until the next day, Friday. Went out and it started right up. Took it up to Advanced Auto Parts and had them do a battery, alternator, etc test and everything passed. Drove the car to a few other stores on Saturday/Sunday and each time it started fine. I go out this morning and it is dead as a door nail again.

Any ideas?

Do you assume the battery was drained?

Does the car have any aftermarket electronics, equipment such as a third party alarm, remote door lock, stereo amplifier?.

Some years had issues with the heater fan randomly coming on with ign key off due to a wiring ground issue. Suggest setting the climate system for defrost and putting tissue over the vents. The next time the battery dies, check tissue paper for being blow off the vent when car is parked.

Another issue is the cars door lock system computer malfunctioning and draining battery.

Thank you for the response. I figured out what was causing the problem...A loose negative battery terminal. I thought that I had checked them but obviously not. The one thing that I did not notice the first time this happened is that, although the car would not start, the clock and radio had not reset themselves.
