2014 Camry Starts and immediately shuts off

Hello,

Firs time poster here. Thanks in advance for your help. My father in law has a 2014 Camry and last week his battery died and he needed a jump start. For some reason, he inadvertently connected the positive to the negative and negative to positive and he blew the alternator fuse. After watching few videos on youtube, we ordered the fuse from Toyota and replaced it over the weekend. Unfortunately, now the car starts but shuts off immediately. We did some more research and thought maybe the mass air flow sensor had gone bad and we replaced it as well, but still no luck. Has someone ever experience something similar and has any tips/recommendations as to what could be the root cause.

Thanks

Are you sure you found all the blown fuses?

Does adding throttle help the engine stay running.

Normally cross matching battery terminals just blows fuses.

To be honest, no, not sure. Immediately after he mis-connected the jumper cables, the car would not crank/start. Every video/post on the internet pointed to a "bad alternator fuse" as the most likely culprit. When we replaced the fuse, it was obvious that it was blown as one of the connections was severed. After replacing the alternator fuse, the car would start but the RPMs would not go past 2k and there was no pressure on the gas pedal and would immediately shut off. After some researching, we thought maybe the engine wasnt getting enough air, which is why we replaced the MAF sensor. My brother in law has a cheap scanner and he hooked it up and the following errors came back: P0118, P0113 and P0102. Aside from this information, I'm at a loss as to what else could be the issue. Thanks for reading my post.

Check EVERY electrical item to determine what works and what does not. Power windows, dome light, CIG lighter, horn, door locks, headlights, brakes lights, radio, etc, etc.

Then report back findings.

The trouble codes code be caused by others issues.
