Default Arching at Coil - 90 Camry 2.5L

I have a 1990 Camry V6 2.5L. Just replaced the plugs, and ignition coil. It was runninggreat after that. Then the other day, the car acted like it wasn't getting gas or something. When I took off from a light, it got up to about 25 then stuttered, for about 5 seconds, and felt like it was cutting off. Then it picked back up and was fine the rest of the way home. The next day, I went to start the car, and it just cranked and cranked, but didn't start. I replaced the fuel filter, and it started right up. But while it was running I noticed that the new ignition coil was arching to ground. What can cause the phenomenon? Should I be looking to replace the plug wires? If that's the case, do I need to replace the coil again since it has arched? Thanks.

Why did you replace the coil, engine running rough?

Try misting the ign system with water when its dark to determine exactly where the coil arcing is occuring and if the plug and coil wires are also.

Check the ign coil resistance, Primary coil 0.41-0.50 ohms, Secondary 7.7-10.4K ohms. Check plug and coil wire resistance, no more then 25K ohms per wire.

Inspect the coil for cracks and arcing at the metal terminals. If cracks the coil (now) has damage, some folks use JB weld with success to fill them. If no cracks once the problem is solved can reuse it.

Check the spark plugs for the proper gap. Distributor cap and rotor for wear and carbon tracks. Yes, a bad coil/cap wire and/or plug wires can cause this coil arcing problem.
