Blinking Cruise Control on 2001 Camry.

Hi All,
I have researched this issue a lot but I have not found something that really addresses this issue.
Everytime I push the little thing down to set the cruise ( after pressing the little button on top of the stick) the cruise control light starts blinking. I am thinking its trying to give out an error code.
If the cruise control light is blinking , how do i retrieve the codes? I tred to use the AutoZone device to retrieve the code but i guess that is just for the engine diagnostic codes.

What could be wrong?Any advice? Pointers?
I have looked and the fuses look ok. (3 places to look for the fuse under the hood correct?!?! did i miss any other locations? )

RE: Blinking Cruise Control on 2001 Camry.

Blinking light may mean a problem with the system.

Find the diagnostic port located engine compartment either left or right strut tower area. A small black plastic box with a flip open lid inside are electrical terminals. There should also be a plug under the dash near the steering column (ODB II plug).

Find the E1 and Tc terminals.

Turn ign switch on.

Use a section of electrical wire to jump the E1 and Tc terminals.

The cruise control light should start blinking out a 2 number code, one number at a time.
Such as 1 flash, pause, 1 flash equals code 11.

If more then one code, they will be displayed in sequence. If no more codes, they will repeat.

Post the code(s) number here.

Check the Gauge, ECU-IG and Stop fuse. Or determine if the engine starts, brake and reverse lights work. If ok, fuses OK.

Pull your cruise control fuse and see if it's blown. Most likely its just blown for whatever reason...just replace it and see if the problem is fixed. If the new fuse gets blown too then your system has a short.
