ECM Replacement

RE: ECM Replacement
What year of car?
Newer cars have the VIN programmed into the computer by the manufacturer or dealer. Not sure but don't think not having the VIN programmed effects the computer operation.
Be sure to get the exact number replacement!
Try Ebay or junkyards first, dealer prices are $$$. Do a Google search by typing in the exact number and check the results.

RE: ECM Replacement
The ECU does not need to be programmed for your car; just that later models had the cars VIN number inputted to the ECU memory, why? Not sure what year this started.
Posts state not having the correct VIN on the computer does not prevent the computer from operating correctly.
The computer should have an extended warranty of 7yr/70K or 8yr/80K miles as mandated by the EPA.
