Locked out of Camry 2010

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a 2nd hand Camry 2010. I'm living in Oman. The car is a US model. The problem I am having is that I'm totally locked out of the car. The remote doesn't unlock it and the mechanical key only works on the trunk. This is the first car that I've owned with this tech and I'm completely new to it, so am baffled. I've tried replacing the batteries on the remote with no success.

When I bought the car, I had the brake pads replaced as they were't responding perfectly. The mechanic scratched the paintwork while replacing them, so he then touched it up at his expense, telling me to bring it back a week later for a polish. I did so, and when I went to collect it the next day it was being washed and cleaned. Took it for a spin for about half an hour and all was fine. I haven't used the car for 2 days. It's been sat out on the street in front of my building. The reason I mention this is that all was working OK for the two weeks I owned it prior to this. Now I can't get in the car at all.

From what I've read online, I'm starting to suspect that the car battery may have discharged, and wondering what may have caused this. Perhaps the mechanic left the AC on too long and discharged the battery? Sorry, I'm very much a newbie.

Any suggestions as to what may be responsible and how I can fix this?

Many thanks.

*********************Problem Solved*************************************

I managed to find a mechanic who is working this weekend (the weekend here is Fri/Sat and this Sunday is Islamic New Year), which was lucky. He confirmed the problem as a flat battery and managed to get the door open (air wedge and a thick wire). I had to get a new battery as the old one was knackered, but all is now working fine again. Hopefully, it will stay that way.
