LOW ENGINE IDLE after NEW BATTERY

Hi All,

Car is a 4 cyl. 2007 Camry with 150,000 miles, original owner

I replaced the battery and the engine idle went from a reasonable 650 to 450 rpm's. That was the only change, smooth idle before, smooth after but a 200 rpm drop.

The engine is surprisingly smooth at 450 rpms but the low idle speed makes it less smooth on take off from stop.

Right after the battery was installed one of the radio functions was backwards, AUX and CD were reversed, soon after it went back to normal.

Is there a way to reset the computer to stock, something makes me think this is the problem.

Please help

john

have not come across this problem from replacing a battery
low rpm... radio functions backwards ?

did you ever jump start the camry
using all battery terminals and not clamping earth to the engine of the camry

if everything in the camry was working what was reason for replacing the battery

check the alternator regulator specs

Thanks dirty hands,

The battery was over 5 years old, was cranking slowly, we live in a rural area and were being conservative replacing battery. engine cranks like new with replacement battery.

As original owner can say engine was never jump started.

The cars radio and engine/trans computer settings are maintained by 12v power from the battery when the engine is off.

The radio settings appear to have reset themselves.

The engine idle speed is controlled by computer via an electric throttle. The computer will need to learn the proper idle speed and reset it, which will happen when driving.

For now wait wait and determine if the idle resets itself. Don't start looking to fix things that may not be broken.
