Default Need advice on electrical problem

2005 Camry Solara. V6. I was sitting in a parking lot with the engine running and the battery light started blinking then other dash lights started going off and on. My kids video screen said low battery. I shut the car off and it started back up normally but all kinds of lights started going off and on. When I put the car in reverse the engine reved a little then died. Then it wouldn't start at all like the battery was dead. Nearly new battery. I switched the battery and the car started up fine but died when I put it in reverse. Battery voltage checked good on both batteries. Any suggestions? I'm parked in a place that will cause the car to be towed if I can't get it moved in the morning. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like there is a drain on the battery or your alternator just bit the dust. Have the car towed, IMO. Was the check engine light on?

Going back to check to see if check engine light was on. Car is 40 miles away. I have a code reader and will see what it does and get back later today. Thanks for your reply.

I put a hot battery in and it started up just fine with no check engine lights. Going to try to get it back home and then check alternator. My guess now is voltage regulated or something on that line.

Use a volt meter to check battery voltage engine off. Then check voltage engine running at around 1500 rpm. Voltage should now be approx 13.8v or move. If voltage stays the same as battery when engine is off have an alt, fuse or other issue.

As Patonium states could be a drain.
