1997 Camry O2 Sensor Codes
Howdy all,
Firstly, I'll likely take my car into a trusted shop when I'm financially able, but in the meantime, I wanted to see if anyone had any general ideas what might be wrong with my car.
I recently had my check engine light come on, and have noticed that my car idles rough in gear when I first start it, for maybe 5 minutes or so, and then it seems to smooth out. It also hesitates on acceleration shortly after it's been started, even to the point of seeming like it's going to die, but it just goes slowly. This too will smooth out after 5 minutes or so, with the car generally behaving well after that.
I have an OBD sensor and app, and received the following four codes:
P0130 - O2 Sensor Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 1
P0133 - O2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response Bank 1 Sensor 1
P0150 - O2 Sensor Circuit Bank 2 Sensor 1
P0153 - O2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response Bank 2 Sensor 1
Now, yes, I can see that the errors are for both O2 sensors, but I replaced them both in the past few years; Bank 2 Sensor 1 in March of 2015, and Bank 1 Sensor 1 in February of 2016. Of course, I realize that this just anecdotal, but it seems that they should last longer than 3-4 years. I've had this car since November 2004, and don't recall when I last had to replace the O2 sensors before 2015, but the ones I have could just be bum parts. However, a friend of mine who has worked on cars suggested it could also be the catalytic converter, or carbon buildup as well. So, I figured I'd just post here and see if anyone had any additional thoughts as to what it might be.
I appreciate any insight y'all can provide, and thanks for your time!
