"No Start" after shorting diagnostic connector 88 3e(? 4cycl, DOHC)
First, my apologies for not spending a lot of time searching for what is likely to be a common new-owner goof-up. I am limited in time for the next several weeks.
Son's car, new to him, new to me. 88, I believe, with the 2L DOHC 16V engine ("3E"?). Running like a dog, though the engine wants to build power at high RPM and/or low throttle opening. Decided to check timing, needed to jumper diag connector E1 to T per book, missed and jumpered E1 to BAT. Wire burned my fingers before I could yank it out, engine died and would not restart. No obvious blown fuses in engine bay, but my DMM (and this computer) miles away.
Is there a commonly failed fuse for this situation, or have I likely fried the ECU? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
