White Exhaust on start up
My 2003 Camry xle 4cly gives white smoke upon start up for about 15 seconds on cold starts. Once the engine has run for any length of time the exhaust is regular. A few of my tuner friends think it may be valve seals. Does that sound about right? The car has 122K miles, which is the reason I purchased it 10 months ago. The car runs rather well and it gets about 26 to 28 miles to the gallon. Is this a big issue?

Do you have to top off any fluids regularly?
White smoke is indicative of water vapor. Grey smoke means oil. If you have had to add coolant then it is almost certain to be a headgasket gone bad. |

It may also be caused by a faulty head gasket or oil mixing in the radiator.
