I bought a 07 Toyota Camry 2.4L a few weeks ago and the last owner replaced the engine and tranny and harness and the ecm from a 2011 Toyota Camry 2.4L because the 07 motor had a rod that was broken. He replaced it and now it won't start, only cranks. He told me that the Immobilizer had to be replaced. NEEP HELP PLEASE.

 

Did the engine ever run when you owned it?

Did you get any ign keys with this replacement ECM? The ign key and ECM need to be linked (coded) together or the engine will not start.

 

Engine ran on the other 2011 toyota camry.

No I didn't get any ign keys with the replacement from the ecm, it has the 07 toyota camry ign with keys but I have the 2011 toyota camry ecm installed.

 

Does the immobilizer red indicator light on the dash stay on when attempting to start engine?

Might have been better off swapping any required engine parts from the 07 engine to the newer engine and keeping the 07 computer.

 

When I turn the key of the 07 red indicator key turns off when I start the engine.

 

You think I sould get a 2011 key to go with the ecm? Can a locksmith do that to program it?
