1993 Timing belt install problems
Im all most done with changing my timing belt, but i wanted to start it before i put everything back on. Now it starts and runs good for about 5 seconds then dies. Is this timing related? When i was removing the balance i did what the manuel said and tried to pry it off and ended up chipping the balance where i think the mark for TDC was. So i have done my best to find it using a tool that is similar to a piston stop, but has a spring in it that raises and you can see it moving up when i rotate the crank. So what should i check?

It wont stay running is what your saying? Did you remove any other parts. I'd assume if it runs correctly for 5 sec. the timing should be ok...

It dosent make it for 5 sec, probably closer to 3. Only parts i removed were the part needed to get to the timing belt.

There's a timing mark on the crank gear behind the harmonic balancer that you can use to line it up at 1TDC. If you disconnected the battery, the ecu may have to go through an idle relearn. It can idle real low and want to die until it relearns. Driving the vehicle a few minutes will allow for relearn. Can you keep it running with the throttle?
