1995 2.2 runs bad
 

I have a 95 2dr Camry with 180,000. It has been like a rock for reliability, but one day out of the blue it just started running bad. I literally parked the car when in a store came out and started it up a from that point it runs like it's missing a cylinder. I checked for spark at each plug by pulling the wire off one at a time and each oneakes it worse. I can't deduce what is causing the problem. Any ideas? Thanks.

Can the engine idle or does it quit?

It runs and drives. It acts like it's down on one cylinder. Low power.

Doesn't die. Will run and idle. Can drive, but like it got three cylinders working.

Tough to diagnose.

Removing the plug wire from each cylinder finds no one cylinder reacts differently then the others? As in it either doesn't react or reacts less?

Is this issue engine hot, cold or both?

Any chance of bad fuel?

Or moisture issues in the ignition system?

Typically this is an ign problem as in plugs, wires, coil, cap, rotor, etc.

Fuel pump could be failing but this is rarer.

Check the hose to the MAP sensor for issues, plus all other vacuum hoses.

Unplug sensors one at a time. A very bad O2 sensor can cause problems, or bad coolant temp sensor for the ECU. The engine may run better with a bad sensor disconnected.
