2000 2.2L bogging and stalling
2000 camry CE
2.2 4 cyl. automatic 5SFE 140,000 miles So sometimes when im coming to a stop the car will jump a little bit downshifting then when i get down to about 20ish mph the engine will start bogging between 200 and 800 rpm's and eventually stall if i dont throw it in neutral and give it gas while braking. After getting going again when i start to gas it'll hesitate before jumping forward. If it does stall before i can put it in neutral, it wont start back up unless i play with the throttle while its turning over, stopped or still rolling in neutral. I dont think its the transmission, ive checked all the vacuum hoses for leaks, the engine light isnt on so theres no codes to look up, and i just finished cleaning the throttle body and replacing the IAC (idle air control) valve. Nothings worked so far, im lost. Any ideas please? |
check the coolant temperature sensor
Does the car ever stall right after you startup in your driveway or in a parking lot before putting in gear?
I had a similar stall problem with my 5-speed camry(135,000 miles) however I didn't have the lurching problem that you described. Try changing the coolant temperature sensor that feeds the computer(not the dash guage). The part costs about $40($65 at dealer) and is easy to replace. It corrected my stall problem. Rick_gator |
it does stall once in a while in the driveway right after a cold start but idk if that is the same problem or not.. could be
when your coolant temp sensor failed did the check engine light come on and give a code to read? mine still hasnt after 6 months of this problem occuring. im thinking it might be the egr valve next to the throttle body but if that doesnt work ill deffinately try the temp sensor |
fixed
problem solved.. it was the EGR valve
