Default 2006 Camry 4cyl slippling tranny?

My sister's 06 camry's tranny might be slipping in the city traffic. She says it operates normally on the freeway. But in the city, when she steps on the gas the engine revs up but the acceleration doesn't happen. It is still under warranty. Probably a bad tranny??

Hey I have a 2005 2.5L Camry manual. I had the same problem when driving the car kinda hard toyota had me replace the clutch and the problem was solved. You may still be under warranty I think that it depends on the package that you got with the car and how many mile are on the car. Hope you get everything worked out.

Suggest you drive the car. Determine when the trans is in Drive, if you give it gas and the engine just revs without moving. If so might be the torque converter.

These trans have issues with shift flare, the engine would rev up between shifts, harsh shifting etc.

One issue is dealers can side step these issues by stating everything is "normal," as such recommend you also experience the problems and form your own opinion.

Ihave an 05 camry auto 5spd.. I dont have a flare but i have what seems to be as if the differential isnt catching all the way then slams it into gear. Only does it from 1st to 2nd gear and over 4,000rpms, and not all the time either. But all in all everything operates normal...Shifts fine with all other gears, even down shifts fine. Then agian it has 102k and needs a flush and filter change real bad. But this has always been a problem sense 40k. I also had this problem with a 00 celica auto trans.

Other than that ive had no issues in city traffic unless u bring it past 4,000 rpms from 1st to 2nd gear. If you take off then floor it all the way thru 1st (hints not spinning the wheels) itll shift fine into 2nd gear at just before redline. I just got use to it.. . Must just be one of the bugs...every automaker has em if you ask me ...
But obviously theres something wrong and till toyota fixes it your kinda stuck..Unless you feel like spending $,$$$ to find the problem and get it fixed.

I also think it has something to do with this drive by wire crap!
