RE: 2006 engine/tranny in 2002

What engine?

The ECU ties into various systems such as air conditioning, dash, the 2006 has fly-by-wire throttle, a 5 speed trans.

Get the wiring diagrams for both year of cars, this will show what wires tie into the ECU and if just changing it will be enough. Check out issues such as drive shafts. If possible get the service info for both cars.

There is also the emissions issue. If the car needs an emissions test find out if the state allows this kind of change over.

If you did go this route would count on spending a lot of time swapping parts and figuring out wiring. Thus would count on the 2002 being down for some time. If possible park the 2006 next to the 2002 as you will be comparing the two during your work.
