Block heater

Hey, any of you guys put a block heater in? I have a 93xle and I would like to make the cold winter starts as easy as possible on the old girl. Is it easy or hard to do?

Never done it on this engine.

Would assume on this year of engine you need to remove a freeze plug. Typically this is a pain due to lack of access.

Toyota might sell heaters, they do for later model cars. Might ask the parts person.

yeah I looked at them on various sites and it shows them as being for a freeze plug. I have not thought of asking the dealer, that is a good idea. Thanks!

RE: Block heater

Toyota offers nothing. I checked underneath the other day when I was changing my oil and saw that the rear freeze plug is somewhat accessable by the Y pipe. Seemed like the hard part would be getting past the axle shaft. I will have to drain the coolant of course which brings me to a question. Does anyone know where th bleeder bolt is for the cooling system is n a 93 v6 is? I have never been able to find it and Haynes is vage as to its location.
