a/c evaporator cleaning?

1993 camry with 260K miles.

Still has the original evaporator and the A/C temperature seems to cool great. But, Ive noticed that the thrust from the fan blower is not as powerful as it used to be. I have replaced the fan motor with a new one and have the same results. Also, the old fan was fairly dirty.

I was wondering if a good cleaning of the evaporator is in order to help air flow? Is it easy to get to and clean any dirt buildup between the little grills without removing it? Are there any recommended tools or method? I had a thought of using pipe cleaners! I prefer to do it myself if at all possible without removing it.

there's no air cabin filter on these models either.

for experience, i've cleaned the A/C condenser grills before and noticed a difference in engine temperature decreasing. removed little rocks with a metal dental toothpick and realigned the bent grills. It was tedious, but it worth it.

any thoughts? the hot Texas summer is just around the corner!!
