Default Camry 99 V6 cam pulley noise?

My Camry 99 V6 has a noise that seems to come from the front cam pulley. Is there anything wrong? Just bought the car, 175,000 kilometers, everything goes fine.

Use a section of hose to narrow down the location of the noise. Such as the top, middle lower, one side or the other location of the timing belt cover. The V6 has two cam pulleys.

The belt has idler bearings which if worn can make noise.

I hear it easily on the front section of the timing cover, just where the front cam pullley is.

Look at the front of timing cover from the passengers side of car. There is a cam pulley located on each side of the upper far L/R corners of the cover.

There is an idler bearing located slightly to the right of center of the timing cover about the same height as the cam pulleys.

Right below this bearing is the water pump which is powered by the timing belt.

Further down and to the left is another idler bearing.

Just seen the same engine were I work, at the scrap yard, and remove the timing cover to see what looks inside. here's the area that I hear the noise on my car. I don't think the pulley itself can be noisy, is there something behind that that can be?

Nothing that the other pulley does not also have behind it. The pulley is connected directly to the camshaft. Try listening for noise under the valve cover area behind the pulley and at the far drivers side end of the cover.
